Ciara began playing the violin at four years old, and grew up in Medicine Hat, Alberta. She received her Bachelor's degree in Classical Violin Performance from the Eastman School of Music in New York under the tutelage of Oleh Krysa and Federico Agostini. A previous performer at the Weill Hall, part of the esteemed Carnegie Hall, Ciara has won prizes such as first place at the Glenn Miller competition in Clarinda, Iowa, the Celantano Award for Excellence in Chamber music at the Eastman School of Music, and the Senior Provincial String Competition in Edmonton, Alberta. In 2022, she was chosen to adjudicate strings at the St. Albert Rotary Music festival in Alberta, and will be adjudicating the Grande Prairie Rotary Music Festival in March of 2023.
Ciara strongly identifies as a multi genre instrumentalist. She has experience performing other styles of music such as Jazz, Rock, Folk and Country in various ensembles as a soloist and as a side musician. In the summer of 2022, she was a featured performer in Medicine Hat's Jazzfest with her quartet. She is now pursuing her Master's degree in Jazz Violin Performance at the University of North Texas College of Music studying with Jazz violinist Scott Tixier.
Ciara focuses heavily her own private studio and takes pride in being an inspiration to her students, three of whom won awards in the 2022 Medicine Hat Rotary Music Festival.
